Protecting Homes, Strengthening Communities
Wildfires are an ever-present risk in our region, but there are proven steps homeowners can take to reduce their vulnerability. Firebrand Resiliency Collective’s Ready NOW Home Wildfire Risk Assessments program helps homeowners identify hazards, implement risk reduction measures, and take advantage of available incentives for wildfire mitigation.
Our Home Assessment Program currently offers no cost home assessments in Jackson and Josephine County for low income households and those living within the Wildland-Urban Interface boundary.
Note, our assessments are focused on your home and the area immediately surrounding it for up to 100 ft. These are not insurance related home inspections or larger property assessments.
What is a Home Wildfire Risk Assessment?
A Home Wildfire Risk Assessment is a structured evaluation of a property’s vulnerability to wildfire. The Assessments starts with the structure of the home and moves outward in zones. Our Assessment is targeted to look at the:
- Structure
- The Immediate Zone (0 – 5 Feet)
- The Intermediate Zone (5 – 30 Feet)
- The Extended Zone (30 – 100 Feet).
Our trained assessors examine factors such as:
- Building materials and structural components
- Vegetation and landscaping within home ignition zones
- Presence of combustible materials near structures
- Ember-resistant features (vents, decks, gutters, etc.)
Following the assessment, homeowners receive a personalized report outlining mitigation strategies to improve their home’s wildfire resilience.

Home Mitigation Incentives
Bark Mulch Replacement Program
Did you know that bark mulch can be a major fire hazard near your home? Through our Program, eligible homeowners can receive assistance replacing flammable bark mulch with safer, non-combustible ground cover like gravel or stone.
Vent-Screen Retrofit Program
Embers can enter homes through vents, making attics and crawl spaces highly vulnerable during a wildfire. We offer a Vent-Screen Retrofit Program to help low-income homeowners install ember-resistant vent screens, adding a critical layer of protection.
